State of the Union Address edition by Thomas Jefferson Reference eBooks

Jefferson was brilliant. He was also a snake in some ways. His speeches have him calling the Natives savages at one point and later calling them our Friends and well after all we did take their land. I'd recommend reading the Founders SOTU speeches, and other writings. They are insightful and fills in the context of the time very well. You understand that they were living in dangerous times, like us. Jefferson didn't pretend to see The Constitution as an ever living document. Understandably, all founders felt that future generations would make their own Constitution. Change to the times. Read some of the Founders SOTU and acceptance speeches, very interesting stuff.

Great history
Good for any student of American History.. Why is this not taught in schools? The insight is wise and timeless.
Thomas Jefferson was a genius and the people in charge today could learn a lot by reading him. They talk about him all the time, but I'm not convinced they're reading anything he wrote.

It's actually 7 State of the Union addresses, from 1802-1808. I don't know if 1801 is included because the beginning is cut off. The book starts in mid-sentence. It looks like it's the 1801 address, but all the others end with his name (as a signed letter) and the first one doesn't. It's not very consistent.

There's no commentary, historical background, context or annotations. It's simply 7 or 8 letters he wrote to Congress.

The whole thing looks like it was just slapped together without any time or effort taken. This great man deserves better than this very flawed edition.
